The OASIS Group is seeking a Clinical Microbiologist Specialist to lead its microbiology service.

Job Description

  • Purpose of Role:

    The purpose of this role is to create sufficient capacity in the clinical microbiologist workforce to allow for development of the virology service, with the aim to provide an exceptional service to both general paediatrics and specialist services with immunocompromised patients such as renal transplant and haematology/oncology.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    1. Work with other consultant microbiologists to provide 24/7 on-call microbiology service for The OASIS Group at Temple Street initially, and then at the new hospital.
    2. Develop and implement strategies to improve laboratory governance and management of congenital infection.
    3. Contribute to the development of surveillance systems and antimicrobial stewardship.
    4. Rotate posts of responsibility as required, with an understanding that they may rotate through other areas such as IPC, Surveillance and laboratory management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Registration as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland.

  • Significant experience in clinical practice in delivery of microbiology service, including clinical consultation and laboratory practices.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills, including experience and familiarity with public, professional, media and political communications and stakeholder relations.
