**Job Title:** Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team in Galway. This is a 12-month maternity contract leave role initially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage and coordinate certain aspects of haemodialysis service, including monthly bloods, analysis, and prescription specific to Anaemia and Renal Mineral Bone Disease management.
  • To compile and report monthly and annual audit data for the AIS.
  • Patient needs – planning implementation and evaluation of outcomes through audit.
  • Nurse prescribing as per Collaborative Practice Agreement.
  • The post holder will take responsibility for monitoring and acting on monthly bloods, and transplant evaluation and follow-up.

Clinical Focus:

  • Manage patient care to ensure the highest standards are maintained using evidence-based practice, care planning approach.
  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of monthly bloods, transplant work up and follow-up, Hepatitis B vaccinations and monitoring to a haemodialysis patient grouping.
  • Provide information and specialist advice to patients on haemodialysis. Selecting and developing appropriate literature and support networks that are available.
  • To be involved in infection control and health promotion of the haemodialysis population.

Requirements:

  • A qualification to degree level in Nursing and registered with NMBI.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Renal Nursing.
  • Strong planning, organisation, and work prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills.
