Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Dublin.

This is a predominantly office-based role where you will work closely with our experienced team to develop and deliver mechanical designs that ensure safe and compliant installations on site.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing mechanical systems in accordance with fire strategy reports, local building regulations, and planning authority requirements.
  • Conducting site surveys of existing installations where applicable.
  • Producing heating/cooling (thermal modeling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software.
  • Sizing and selecting components such as air handling units, fan coil units, extract fans, pumps, chillers, air source heat pumps, boilers, and heat exchangers.
  • Producing above-ground drainage calculations and sizing drainage systems.
  • Sizing and selecting domestic hot and cold-water equipment.
  • Producing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or spreadsheets.
  • Optional: Sizing and selecting firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems.
  • Preparing stage reports and presentations.
  • Developing designers risk assessment and mitigation reports.
  • Detailing mechanical layouts and schematics for construction.
  • Producing detailed design and survey reports.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience in Mechanical Building Services Engineering for construction.
  • A Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Good knowledge of standards such as CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, EN Irish, UK standards, or ASHRAE.
  • Proficiency with design software like Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS.
  • The ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
