Job Description:

The role of the Assistant Manager is to provide leadership and support to the store team, ensuring that all aspects of the store's operations are managed efficiently and effectively.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide excellent customer service at all times
  2. Manage the merchandising and presentation of the store to ensure it meets the highest standards
  3. Ensure the effective operation of all sales points and contribute to price perception
  4. Communicate operating standards to staff members and ensure they understand and implement them
  5. Monitor the performance of Fresh Food Departments in conjunction with the Fresh Food Manager
  6. Adhere to stocktaking procedures and coordinate quarterly stocktaking procedures
  7. Maintain effective ordering processes and prudent stock management
  8. Monitor department overheads and ensure budgets are achieved
  9. Conduct regular staff meetings
  10. Provide leadership for Junior Management and staff and ensure a good working environment exists within the store
  11. Liaise with the management team to ensure weekly gross profit, net profit, and sales targets are achieved
  12. Seek opportunities for personal development and training
  13. Manage housekeeping to expected standards
  14. Assume store manager responsibilities in their absence
  15. Have in-depth knowledge of all Health & Safety regulations and how they relate to the store
