Senior Microbiologist - Innovation Leader

  • We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Microbiologist to join our team in Galway. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and commercialization of innovative medical devices that will make a tangible impact on patients' lives.
">Key Responsibilities:">
  • Lead microbiological testing and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct Endotoxin and Bioburden testing, with potential involvement in Sterility testing.
  • Develop and execute validation plans for microbiological methods, ensuring robust and reliable processes.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the microbiology lab, including scheduling, ordering consumables, and maintaining equipment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across product development, quality, and manufacturing to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Mentor and lead a junior microbiologist, providing guidance and support in their development.
  • Interface with senior leadership both within the company and its parent organization, providing updates and insights.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory standards, ensuring compliance throughout the project.

About You:

  • You are a highly motivated microbiologist with a solid foundation in microbiological testing, particularly in highly regulated environments such as the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative setting, leading essential processes such as Endotoxin, Bioburden, and Sterility testing, while ensuring the highest standards of compliance.
  • You are methodical, detail-oriented, and capable of developing and validating microbiological methods, all while maintaining smooth lab operations.

Requirements:

  • You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
  • You have 5+ years of experience in a microbiology lab, ideally within the medical device or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • You're well-versed in quality standards (QSR, ISO/MDR) and have hands-on experience with Sterilization Processes, Validation techniques, and Cleanroom Monitoring.
  • You possess strong knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, PMP, SPC, and 8D, and have a working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Kaizen methodologies.
  • You've demonstrated leadership potential, either through formal experience or a proven ability to mentor and train junior colleagues.
