Volunteer Opportunity

The Human Rights and Women Support Project in Guatemala offers a unique chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable and marginalized communities. By collaborating with local grassroots organizations, you'll contribute to ongoing efforts aimed at fostering equality and justice within the country.

This volunteer opportunity involves working with local partners to document human rights abuses, educate the international community, or provide direct support to victims of abuse.

Additionally, this project offers opportunities to support women's rights initiatives, addressing gender-based violence and promoting prevention through education. You'll also have the chance to forge deep connections with locals and contribute to vital human rights initiatives in Guatemala.

Upon arrival in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, you'll receive a comprehensive induction to help you become familiar with your new surroundings, meet staff, and settle in. If you live with a local host family, you'll be accommodated accordingly. You'll also meet your host organization and learn how your skills can contribute to their human rights work.

Placements typically run from Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work full- or part-time; weekend opportunities may be available for special events or projects. Your host organization will work with you to accommodate your schedule and provide time for extracurricular activities or travel.

Logistics

During your stay, you'll be greeted at the airport and transported to the project site. You can stay in a private room with a local host family or in a hotel, depending on preference. This includes:

  • Private Accommodation (availability permitting)
  • All meals
  • Airport Pickup and transfer to project
  • All project-related activities
