Job Title:

Senior Occupational Therapist - Community Adult Mental Health

This role involves working with a team to provide occupational therapy services to adults in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of adults with varying mental health presentations, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify functional needs and inform care planning.
  • Design and deliver individual and group-based interventions focused on improving daily living skills, community participation, vocational goals, and social engagement.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop recovery-focused care plans tailored to each service user.
  • Participate in discharge planning, transition support, and liaison with primary care, community supports, and family/carers.
  • Supervise and support the professional development of junior Occupational Therapists or students as required.
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical documentation, in line with HSE standards and occupational therapy best practice.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, including the development of protocols, audits, and outcome measurement.
  • Promote mental health awareness and advocate for occupational therapy within the wider community and MDT.

Essential Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU)
  • CORU Registration (essential)
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience, with at least 1 year in adult mental health
  • Experience delivering occupational therapy in the Community
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing a diverse caseload
  • Full driver's licence and access to own transport (essential)
