Job Title: Support Worker

This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of others. As a support worker, you will be responsible for providing assistance and care to residents and tenants in their own homes, ensuring their dignity and wellbeing are promoted at all times.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Work within the framework of the overall objectives and policies of the organization, providing personal care to service users in their own home while promoting their dignity and wellbeing.
  • Implement support plans (recovery focused) with clients as directed by project workers, which may include cleaning, shopping, general housekeeping, and other tasks identified.
  • Support tenants in maintaining their homes and managing personal care, working as part of a team to achieve this goal.
  • Remind service users to take their medication and provide relief care for carers/colleagues as required.
  • Report any concerns to project workers/team leaders and be aware of the changing needs of service users.
  • Support service users with life skills such as using household appliances, meal preparation, and cleaning.
  • Keep up-to-date records such as daily logs and work to the service model and standards of best practice.
  • Attend and participate in individual, team, and GSCK training and meetings as required.
  • Participate in formal and informal supervision and work a flexible roster over days, evenings, and weekends to meet the objectives of the service.
  • Implement existing policies and procedures and input into the development of new ones, evaluating daily activities and ensuring confidentiality in all matters concerning individuals using the service.
  • Undertake such other duties as might be reasonably assigned from time to time in consultation with the Team Leader.
  • Be vigilant to any Health, Safety, and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.
Requirements:
  • Essential Criteria:
  • Level 5 QQI Healthcare or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in a related field.
  • Full clean driving license and access to a car.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Communication skills to support the service user.
  • Practical skills and willingness to complete tasks required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a caring and responsible attitude, ability to respect each service user's dignity and sense of independence.
Desirable:
  • Experience of lone working in a healthcare setting.
  • First Aid Training.
