Process Technician/Polymer Plastics Job Description

The key responsibility of the Process Technician lies in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, modification and continuous improvement of moulding processes and equipment.

  • They play a crucial role in assisting the complete validation of new and existing equipment including acceptance trials, debugging and validation of new equipment and tools.
  • Maintenance of moulding equipment at optimal performance levels is also their responsibility, adhering to the highest engineering standards.
  • Specific fine tuning of moulding equipment is required to improve and increase output.
  • Downtime and waste reduction is another significant task assigned to them.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping in the moulding area is essential.
  • Analysis of customer complaints and internal quality issues with the development of improvement programmes for equipment to eliminate defects being produced is also included.
  • Training of technicians/apprentices as required is an additional responsibility.
Job Requirements
  • Time served or Polymer experience is necessary.
  • A minimum of 3 years industrial experience preferably in a regulated industry and experience of injection moulding is required.
  • Ideally candidates should hold the National Craft Certificate and/or relevant 3rd level qualification coupled with relevant further training courses and qualifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.
  • Computer literacy would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative is required.
  • Good attendance record is essential.
