Climate Change Research Role

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality research in support of a climate change mitigation programme.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver impactful research to inform management decisions and conservation efforts.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers, scientists, and stakeholders to develop and implement research projects.
  • Conduct innovative research to bridge knowledge gaps related to Ireland's fish species and their habitats and climate change impacts.
  • Collect and process data on fish populations and environmental conditions.
  • Analyze and interpret data to inform management decisions and conservation efforts.
  • Prepare and present scientific reports, papers, and presentations to stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • A primary degree in a relevant area such as aquatic ecology, fisheries, or fluvial geography.
  • Circa 5 years' experience working at a professional level in a relevant area.
  • Full driving license valid in Ireland.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with emphasis on motivation and leadership.
  • Excellent team-working skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently.
  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to spot errors and question information received.
  • Proven project management experience in a multi-disciplined team.
  • Demonstrable experience in report and scientific writing.
  • Demonstrable experience of field survey and data collection in aquatic habitats.
  • Demonstrable experience in sampling and identification of fish species.
  • Strong expertise in IT skills including GIS software and MS Office.
  • Demonstrable experience in the use of relevant statistical software.
  • Knowledge of climate change and potential impacts on Ireland's fish species.
