The Role of an Audit Senior

About the Job

Audit Seniors play a vital role in planning, organizing, and controlling all aspects of audit engagements. They are responsible for ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard, meeting deadlines, and aligning with engagement managers' and partners' expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting with Planning: Audit Seniors assist in planning audits, including staffing and setting deadlines.
  • Client Meetings: They attend client meetings to discuss audit plans and strategies.
  • Preparing Financial Statements: They prepare financial statements and present high-quality work papers.
  • Team Management: Audit Seniors plan, control, and review the work of their team members, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Staff Deployment: They deploy staff members effectively, allocating tasks and resources as needed.
  • Training and Development: They delegate tasks to junior staff members and provide on-the-job training to help them develop their skills.
  • Closing Queries: Audit Seniors close all queries raised by managers on audit work papers, ensuring that all issues are resolved promptly.
  • Completing Files: They complete audit files and bring assignments to completion, ensuring that all work is finished to a high standard.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Audit Seniors require ACA or ACCA qualifications, demonstrating their expertise in auditing principles and practices.
  • Industry Knowledge: They have excellent knowledge of auditing companies in the Financial Service Industry, staying up-to-date with industry developments and trends.
  • Coaching and Development: Audit Seniors are expected to coach and develop junior staff members, helping them to improve their skills and performance.
  • Communication Skills: They possess strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in business report writing, enabling them to effectively communicate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Governance Knowledge: Audit Seniors have working knowledge of Irish GAAP, IFRS, and US GAAP, ensuring that they can apply accounting standards correctly.
