Job Description:As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care for both elective and emergency surgeries, encompassing pre-operative assessment, intra-operative management, and post-operative care. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.
- Pre-operatively assess patients, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- During surgery, manage anaesthesia effectively, collaborating closely with surgical teams and other departments as necessary.
- Post-operatively, ensure seamless transitions back to normal functioning, addressing any complications that may arise.
Additionally, you will supervise and mentor junior doctors, nurses, and anaesthesia technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and knowledge-sharing within the team. Participating in on-call rotations, you will respond promptly to emergency situations, demonstrating your ability to think critically under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and mentor junior staff members, promoting professional growth and development.
- Participate in clinical governance initiatives, contributing to the improvement of our services and processes.
- Engage in continuous professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in anaesthesiology.
For this role, we require specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) and completion of Specialist Training in Anaesthesiology, along with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent. A minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience in Anaesthesiology is also essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital, as is a strong commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care. Experience in regional anaesthesia, pain management, and intensive care is highly valued but not mandatory.
Qualifications and Experience:- Specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
