We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and finalising annual financial statements, income tax and corporation tax returns, VAT returns, PAYE submissions, and management accounts.
Responsibilities:Client Service & Accounts PreparationThe ideal candidate will have experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies using accounting software such as Surf, Sage, Relate, and Thesaurus.
They will also be responsible for preparing and submitting income tax and corporation tax returns using ROS and practice software.
Additionally, the successful candidate will prepare and review VAT returns, PAYE submissions, and management accounts where required.
Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and collect outstanding information in a professional manner is also an essential part of this role.
Assisting with the onboarding of new clients and ensuring accurate setup on all systems is also a key responsibility.
Technical Development & Quality
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Irish accounting standards and Revenue compliance requirements is crucial for this role.
Ensuring that all work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with internal quality standards is also essential.
Practice SupportAssisting with ad hoc queries, technical research, and partner-led advisory projects is also an important aspect of this role.
Contributing to improving internal processes and sharing learnings with junior team members is also a key responsibility.
Supporting senior accountants in mentoring trainees and reviewing basic-level work when appropriate is also an essential part of this role.
Requirements:Essential Skills and QualificationsThe ideal candidate will be ACA / ACCA / CPA qualified (or equivalent) and have at least 1+ year post-qualification experience in Irish practice.
They will also have a strong understanding of Irish GAAP, tax legislation, and Revenue processes.
Experience using key accountancy software and cloud accounting platforms is also essential.
Familiarity with specialist sectors such as medical, retail, or hospitality is also a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook, is also required.
Excellent communication skills, confident in liaising directly with clients, are also essential.
Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple jobs in progress is also crucial.
High attention to detail and personal accountability for quality of work is also required.
