We are seeking a senior-level professional to serve as the central voice for Electrical Engineering Design, developing and leading this discipline.
About the RoleThis is a strategic, technical role within our organization. As a Technical Director, you will collaborate with senior teams to ensure efficient and consistent delivery of design services.
You will contribute to performance improvements, safe asset delivery, and fostering a healthy workforce. This senior appointment reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for leadership, governance, and troubleshooting in Electrical Engineering Design.
The role can be based in Ireland, the UK, Poland, or Belgium.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a strategy to forecast and plan electrical engineering capabilities and capacity.
- Support business units in strengthening departments, identifying competency gaps, and training needs.
- Develop SME areas within electrical engineering, such as sustainability.
- Align and develop cross-functional competencies with architecture and other engineering disciplines.
- Define design activities and deliverables for core sectors to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
- Define and implement strategies for continuous improvement in electrical engineering.
- Enhance the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform within our Quality Management System.
- Create standardized group-wide working practices considering local codes and industry norms.
- Integrate digital and sector-specific approaches into design processes.
- Support sales proposals and establish project watch lists based on design challenge and risk.
- Influence early design stages and chair discipline-specific design reviews.
- Review safety documents and contribute to go/no-go decisions for high-risk projects.
- Act as a first responder for critical electrical engineering issues across the organization.
- Engage with senior internal and client teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
- Act as technical sponsor for corrective measures and keep management updated.
- Passion for electrical engineering and a focus on asset safety.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 15+ years of industry experience, with at least 10 at senior management level.
- Good knowledge of Pharma, Med Tech, and Data Center industries.
- Membership in a recognized engineering body (e.g., Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers).
- Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate across functions.
- Self-starter and decisive decision-maker.
- Fluent in English.
