On behalf of our Client, a state organisation in the Hospital / Medical Sector / Hospice, we are welcoming applications from level 8 Construction / Engineering / Architecture / Building Surveyors / Mechanical / Electrical qualified Project Managers Project Engineers to Plan and supervise the execution of major and minor capital works

Projects;

Hospital; Two 21‑bed wards, all single en‑suite rooms, plus ancillary accommodation; also a “shell and core” area for future expansion (e.g. Cardiology CT, Day Services

Install a second CT scanner; includes new build space to relocate Nuclear Medicine, reconfigure existing Nuclear Medicine facilities

Stand‑alone two‑theatre surgical hub; part of a major infrastructure effort to improve surgical / diagnostic capacity in the North‑West

Community Hospital; 26‑bed ward (six 4‑bed rooms + two single en‑suite rooms)

Hospice; Extension of the current hospice building: 12 beds (4 additional), outpatient / day care and home care team, admin space, etc.

Job Title; Technical Services Officer, Senior Assistant

Salary; €60, - €70, (Mileage / Expenses provided for multi/site / travel)

Working Hours; 35 Hours Weekly Mon - Fri

Hybrid / Blended Model; Office / Site / Home

Representing the Client, reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will over see works and carry out the following;

·Plan and supervise the execution of minor capital works throughout the area of responsibility this is in addition to managing specific Minor & Major projects within the program

·Prepare in consultation with appropriate officers and advisers, programmes for the maintenance of buildings, services, and equipment

·Draw up, or in appropriate circumstances, to arrange for the development of plans and contract arrangements for the implementation of approved maintenance programmes

·Ensure that buildings, services, and equipment under their control are adequately maintained in accordance with approved maintenance programmes

·Work with and support the activities of the Property Manager to ensure compliance with Property Transaction Protocols and other relevant property related task when assigned

·Ensure that adequate fire prevention and safety measures and standards are devised and applied in association with Fire & Safety Officer

·Provide advice on the efficient use of energy and work with service personnel and other Capital & Estates personnel and advisors on the efficient use of energy in healthcare premises

·Advise on facilities and environmental matters in conjunction with services personnel and other Capital & Estates personnel, and advisors as required

Other Duties:

·Adequately identifies, assesses, manages and monitors risk within their area of responsibility

·Engage in performance achievement process in conjunction with your Line Manager and staff as appropriate.

·Co-operate with the Transformation Programme as required to carry out the duties of the post.

·Achievement of targets and plans and completion of agreed programme within allocated budget.

·Act as spokesperson for the Organisation as required.

·Demonstrate pro-active commitment to all communications with internal and external stakeholders.

·Succeed in developing good working relationships with other members of the team and with administrators of institutions in which maintenance staff are engaged.

·Support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service.

Requirements

Academics; Level 8 Academics in a Relevant Construction / Engineering Discipline. Alternatively, applicants that have or are eligible for Full Membership of the relevant professional association for any of the following are acceptable;

- Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland

- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

- Engineers Ireland

- Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland

·Demonstrate experience as is relevant to the role; in planning, design, project management or construction of buildings or in the installation or maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and heating services of such buildings.

·Demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of the construction and/or maintenance of buildings, equipment and services and building regulations and guidelines.

·Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of EU Procurement legislation and Government construction procurement guidelines.

·Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety legislation and a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc.

·Demonstrate awareness of sustainable Healthcare Building Guidelines and management in the specification design construction and refurbishment of Healthcare Buildings.

·Demonstrate evidence of computer skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, email, Engineering specific programmes such as Project Manager, Autocad etc. and Financial systems (for e.g. SAP).

·Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organising skills including awareness of resource management and importance of value for money, the ability to manage deadlines and effectively handle multiple tasks.

·Demonstrate leadership and team management skills including the ability to work with multi-disciplinary team members and also the ability to motivate, train, develop and manage staff.

·Demonstrate effective communication skills including: the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner; the ability to facilitate and manage groups through the learning process; the ability to give constructive feedback to encourage learning.
