Consultant/ Specialist in Old Age Psychiatry

Opportunity Working as a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry, you will be responsible for the care and treatment of patients in your clinical charge, with the service to be as community-orientated as possible. Duration -12-24 month contract with a view to go permanent  The main responsibilities of this role are to provide high-quality Mental Health Care for older people with severe and enduring mental health problems both inpatients and outpatients, dealing with needs such as Alzheimer`s, Parkinson`s, and Huntington`s Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders As a Consultant psychiatrist, you will work closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care for older people with severe and enduring mental health problems within the Cork/Kerry area. As a leader, you will have a key role in teaching, managing, coaching, and engaging in the practice and education of medical students, medical staff, and other allied health professionals as appropriate. Psychiatry of Later Life Team provides specialist mental health services to people over sixty-five who are coming to the service for the first time.
