Our Story
Unum Technology Centre in Carlow serves as a strategic software development and IT services centre supporting Unum, a leading provider of income protection in the US.
Our team of IT professionals build solutions and critical business applications to digitally transform the way we do business.
The Role Develop solutions across the full Web application stack (a React front-end and Rails back-end) to meet business requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and design comprehensive solutions and test plans.Implement and maintain automated test frameworks, leveraging tools such as Rspec, Minitest, Selenium, Cucumber, or similar technologies.Analyze and fix software defects, working closely with team members to ensure timely resolution.Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in software development and testing methodologies.What You Offer Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).Strong experience developing Web applications and APIs with the Ruby language and Rails application framework.Experience developing React front-ends with TypeScript.Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) using Rspec or Minitest.Good understanding of cloud security fundamentals and best practices.Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.Strong communication skills with an ability to explain complex systems and processes.Helpful to Have Experience with PostgreSQL and Redis.Experience building, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure in AWS.What We Offer
