Key job responsibilitiesDeliver logical, maintainable, and timely technology solutions to meet defined requirementsLearn and apply current engineering best practices, such as getting designs and code reviewed, incorporating feedback, and writing clear documentationTest solutions and classify, store, and handle data in accordance with Amazon policiesActively seek guidance from managers and peers, and apply that feedback to your workParticipate in team discussions around design, scoping, and prioritization, learning to understand business goals and customer needsEnsure solutions address team goals and improve customer experienceLearn to identify and scope problems, calculate solution costs, and make technical trade-offsAssume responsibility for systems you inherit and produce, applying principles of operational excellenceUnderstand system requirements, performance properties, and dependencies, and troubleshoot issuesRemain calm under pressure and know when to ask for helpBegin learning about customer experience and provide excellent supportIdentify and address operational risks, especially at component levelHelp train and mentor interns, and potentially participate in hiring processA day in the lifeL5 System Development Engineer II will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative technology solutions that address complex business problems.
L5 Sysdev will a) work autonomously, with the ability to seek direction from peers and managers when needed.
b) will consider the long-term implications of the systems you build, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and cost-effective.
c) will be a trusted technical contributor, participating in strategic planning and decision-making with customers, partner teams, and peers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONSExperience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructureExperience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, RustExperience with Linux/Unix2+ years of software development and system design experienceProficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworksUnderstanding of software architecture patterns and design principlesAbility to write maintainable, tested, and well-documented codeStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsFamiliarity with agile software development methodologiesWillingness to learn new technologies and take on challenging problemsGood communication and collaboration skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
