Location: Crannog Children's Respite Service, Galway.
The post is primarily located in Crannog Children's Respite Service and may involve coverage in Crannmor Respite, Rosedale School and the Child Development Centres in Galway City.
The role requires flexibility to work a variety of hours including day and night duty hours and sleep-ins as required.
A panel may be formed from this process for future Staff Nurse/Enhanced Nurse appointments within the Children's Services over the next 6 months.
The Role
To support the implementation of children's individualised developmental and educational programmes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maximise benefits for the children.
To provide clinical nursing skills in supporting children with complex needs, maintaining the highest quality of nursing practice, and addressing developmental, learning, physical, social and emotional needs at all times.
Act as an informed resource for educating and supporting care assistants and family members.

Qualifications/Experience
A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais).
An RNID qualification is highly desirable.
Minimum of six months experience working with children with an Intellectual Disability.
Full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) desirable.
Fluency in verbal and written English is essential.
Basic IT skills are desirable.

Working Hours
75 hours per fortnight on a 7-day/night duty roster.
Includes days, evenings, weekends, public holidays, night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs.
Personal outcome measures framework applies; flexibility expected to provide quality service.
Annual Leave
24 days per annum.
Additional service-related leave after 5 and 10 years of service.
Remuneration
Department of Health salary scales as at 01/03/2025 apply:
Staff Nurse – €36,919 x 11 increments = €53,340 per annum.
Long Service Increment €54,928 per annum after 3 years on maximum of scale.
Enhanced Nurse – €43,872 x 7 increments = €55,093 per annum.
Long Service Increment €56,706 per annum after 3 years on maximum of scale.
As per HSE HR Circular 022/2019 – Nursing and Midwifery; once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse salary scale, eligibility to apply for the Enhanced Nurse role is triggered.
Salary quoted is based on a 37.5 hour week; incremental credit may be granted after verification of previous relevant nursing service.
Additional payments apply for weekends, public holidays, and sleep-ins/night duties.
A location allowance of €2,637 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is paid where 75% of persons supported have a diagnosis of severe/profound intellectual disability.
Tenure
The post is temporary, full-time, and pensionable, linked to a permanent employee's leave within the Services.
