The
Toast Web Platform team
plays a key role in enabling product teams to build and ship high-quality web experiences at scale.
We own the tooling, build systems, frontend CLI, microfrontend architecture, and web developer experience that support hundreds of SPAs across the company.
This team is deeply technical and platform-oriented.
While we own some product surfaces (like navigation and homepage), our primary mission is to
elevate how the frontend is built at Toast.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about modern frontend development, has strong systems thinking, and wants to make a huge impact on how hundreds of developers build for the web.

Your work will directly accelerate our release cycles, reduce onboarding friction for new engineers, and enhance the reliability of critical restaurant-facing user interfaces.
Lead the evolution of our shared
frontend build system
(Webpack, Vite, etc.)
Drive improvements in our
microfrontend architecture
and tooling
Enhancing our
frontend CLI
, scaffolding tools, and shared testing config
Building internal tools to improve
developer observability
, debugging, and performance
Partnering with other frontend teams to gather feedback, identify friction, and address gaps in our platform
Monitoring the health and performance of deployed web apps using tools like
DataDog, Splunk
, and custom telemetry
Shape org-wide best practices for
frontend architecture, testing, and release workflows
Do you have the right

(Requirements)
5+ years of professional experience in software development, ideally in frontend or web platform roles
Strong experience with
React
,
TypeScript
, and frontend build systems
Experience with

, particularly in building dev tools and CLIs
Exposure to backend systems (Java/Kotlin preferred) and understanding of API interactions
A platform mindset — you're motivated by

and
enabling others
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working across many teams to drive alignment
Bonus: experience with microfrontend patterns, shared testing infrastructure, or GraphQL federation
