Are you an experienced veterinary surgeon looking for a permanent position in a supportive and progressive hospital environment?
Join The Well Pet Hospital, a leading small animal veterinary hospital in Sligo, as a member of our professional clinical team.
We're seeking a confident, skilled clinician to bring their expertise to a team committed to excellence in patient care.
This is a 5-day per week role, including participation in a shared weekend and on-call rota, offering a varied and rewarding caseload across consultations, surgery, inpatient care, and emergency cases.
As part of our clinical team, you'll also have the opportunity to shape clinical standards, mentor junior team members, and explore career progression pathways, including clinical leadership roles if desired.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality clinical across consultations, surgical procedures and case management
Perform advanced diagnostic assessments and detailed treatment planning
Conduct routine small animal surgeries and dentistry procedures
Manage inpatients, emergencies, and intensive care cases with clinical confidence
Work both independently (including sole charge) and collaboratively within our experienced veterinary team
Engage with and support team development and evidence-based clinical practices
Take advantage of our CARE fund to go above and beyond for patients when needed
What We're Looking For
VCI registered veterinary surgeon, fully eligible to work in Ireland
Minimum of 4 years' clinical experience in small animal practice
Competence in small animal surgery, diagnostics, and emergency medicine
Strong communication and leadership qualities; comfortable supporting less experienced vets
Desire for clinical progression - whether it's developing special interests or pursuing a Certificate, Diploma or PhD (all fully funded)
Confidence with sole charge and complex case management
Interest in mentoring, quality improvement, or leadership development welcomed

Our modern facilities include separate dog and cat wards, multiple consultation rooms (including nurse-led consultations), and advanced diagnostic equipment such as ultrasound, digital x-ray, in-house laboratory, and dentistry.
Our experienced and welcoming team of 5 vets, 5 nurses and 3 support staff includes clinicians with certifications in dermatology and western herbal medicine.
