We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our client's team in Laois. Our client is a leading provider of care and support services for children and young adults, helping them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference by providing psychological assessment, therapy, and support for children and young people with a range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Psychological Assessment: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments of children and young adults, identifying their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as CBT, play therapy, and family therapy, tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual.
  • Care Planning: Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aimed at improving emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Consultation and Support: Provide psychological advice and consultation to social care staff, educators, and families to help support the child's development and overall care.
  • Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate psychological support and intervention during times of crisis, helping children and young adults manage distressing emotions and situations.
  • Research & Evaluation: Contribute to service development by conducting evaluations, audits, and research to ensure the continued improvement of psychological services.
  • Training & Development: Offer training and guidance to staff on psychological issues, promoting a trauma-informed and child-centered approach across the service.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure all safeguarding and child protection policies are adhered to, keeping the well-being of the child or young person as a top priority.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Hold a recognized postgraduate qualification in clinical or counseling psychology that is recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland, and validated by the Department of Health and Children.
  • Experience: Proven experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a clinical or educational setting. Experience in a residential or social care setting is desirable.
  • Therapeutic Expertise: Knowledge and experience in delivering a range of therapeutic approaches including CBT, trauma-informed therapy, and family-based interventions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with children, families, and professionals.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams and the ability to work collaboratively with social care, healthcare, and education professionals.
  • Resilience & Compassion: A compassionate and empathetic approach, with the resilience to work with vulnerable children who may have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning: A commitment to ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices in child psychology.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of safeguarding protocols and the ability to implement safeguarding procedures.
