The Role.

GMC are currently looking for an experienced GIS/CAD Technician to join our team.

The successful GIS/CAD Technician will play a crucial role in managing and analysing spatial data related to utility infrastructure, such as electricity, gas, water, or telecommunications networks.

No experience needed, Graduates that have studied a GIS module are welcome to apply, entry level GIS Role to start your career.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Regularly updating the as-laid manager.
  • Updating ArcGIS with the details of newly constructed water networks.
  • Ensuring ArcGIS records are updated to the highest quality standard.
  • Submitting ArcGIS as-laids to the client.
  • Updating InfoAsset Manager with the details of newly constructed wastewater networks.
  • Ensuring InfoAsset records are updated to the highest quality standard.
  • Submitting InfoAsset as-laids to the client.
  • Tracking all changes in the designs from updated drawings that are received or from changes in construction following construction.
  • Conducting verification of as-laid survey details against construction drawings.
  • Liaising with Site Engineers/Site Agents, when necessary, to confirm accurate details of as-laid are recorded.
  • Conducting verification of GIS as-laid details against workflow records.
  • Consulting with workflow officers to make sure all elements of carried out construction works are recorded on as-laid and claimed.
  • Regularly complete the as-laids validation checklists.
  • Scheduling GPS site survey.
  • Conducting verification of GPS site survey.

 

The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:

  • Full clean driver's license essential.
  • A relevant qualification is desirable.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of InfoAsset Manager will be valuable.
  • Certain knowledge of SQL will be beneficial.
  • Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) experience.
  • Confident, motivated and can work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
  • Time management abilities to meet targets.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
  • Demonstrates precision and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exhibits strong organisational skills along with a problem-solving approach.
  • Quickly grasps new software systems.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in swift and accurate data entry.
