Position Overview
Are you passionate about gaining deep insights into complex cloud-based systems to enhance their reliability, performance, and scalability?
Autodesk is looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our Cloud Platform team. You will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of observability solutions using cutting-edge tools and techniques to monitor the health, performance, and behavior of our cloud infrastructure. You will report to an Engineer Manager in Ireland.
This role is located in Ireland. Hybrid work model.
Responsibilities
Architect and implement observability solutions utilizing advanced cloud monitoring tools such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk or equivalent, to provide comprehensive insights into system metrics, logs, and traces You have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive observability initiatives and improvements Configure and customize monitoring dashboards, alerts, and metrics to enable real-time visibility into system health, performance, and reliability, facilitating rapid detection and resolution of issues Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define observability best practices, ensuring alignment with industry-leading methodologies Analyze system performance and behavior through advanced data analytics and visualization techniques, identifying trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities to enhance system reliability and scalability Develop and automate observability-related processes and workflows, leveraging scripting and automation tools to improve monitoring, analysis, and response activities Be on-call for incidents and system outages Stay up to date with latest trends and innovations in observability and cloud monitoring technologies, evaluating and integrating new tools and methodologies to improve our observability capabilitiesMinimum Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on experience in cloud operations, site reliability engineering, or a similar role, with a focus on observability and cloud monitoring solutions Experience with cloud infrastructure and services specifically AWS. 5+ with a programming language(s) such as Python or Go Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform 6-8 years experience designing and implementing observability solutions using tools such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk, or equivalent, to monitor cloud-based systems at scale Strong analytical, with the ability to analyze complex system behavior, identify performance bottlenecks, and recommend optimization strategies Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experiencePreferred Qualifications
Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) Experience with advanced observability techniques such as distributed tracing and log aggregation (e.g., ELK Stack, Splunk) Knowledge of container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and associated observability tools for monitoring containerized environments Familiarity with chaos engineering principles and practices for testing and improving system resilience through controlled experimentsThe Ideal Candidate
You are passionate about observability and have a proven track record of designing, implementing, and optimizing observability solutions for complex cloud-based systems You possess strong technical skills in utilizing advanced monitoring tools and techniques to gain deep insights into system metrics, logs, and traces, enabling and optimization You excel in analyzing and interpreting complex system behavior, identifying patterns, trends, and optimization opportunities to enhance system reliability and scalability You are proactive in staying updated with the latest trends and innovations in observability and cloud monitoring technologies, continually evaluating and integrating new tools and methodologies to enhance observability capabilities You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to drive observability initiatives and improvements that enhance overall system reliability and performance#LI-DV1
