Guinness Open Gate Brewery is our experimental brewery which dates back over 100 years and our gates are open for discovery. Guinness Open Gate Brewery is a hidden secret just waiting to be discovered. Visitors are welcomed to our taproom and beer garden to sample experimental beers that won’t be found anywhere else

About the Role

The right candidate will become a recognized friendly face of the St James’s Gate Brewery through various operations. Including project work, tasting events, trade visits, maintaining a social media presence and bartender training both internal & trade. 

The position is a national role, primarily based in Dublin but may also be called on to cover other markets and when needed the role may require both national & international travel. A portion of work hours will be spent during evenings and weekends, interacting face to face with trade representatives, general public and the broader beer community.

Responsibilities:

Embody the spirit of St James’s Gate Brewery and share this passion with others.  Host events and trainings to bring the Brewery beer portfolio to life.  Deliver brewery tours on a regular basis to VIPs, Trade guests and consumers.  Regularly spend time engaging beer drinkers and make genuine connections.  Utilise various social media channels to showcase regional brand activity and connect with bartenders, retail operatives and members of the beer community. Provide support for PR opportunities including regional and international launch events.  Develop strong working relationships in order to become a trusted source for all things St James’s Gate among sales and marketing teams, including brand inductions & innovation presentations.  Support all stakeholders in their commercial planning around Diageo beer sales goals.  Identify new opportunities for sales growth for Diageo beer brands.  Adhere to all health and safety guidelines while on site, owning relationships with senior stakeholders such as corporate relations, H&S and brewery operation managers.  Operate within prescribed budget, ensure return on investment, submitting all T&E claims in a timely and compliant manner. 

Role Requirements:

Must be passionate about beer & Irish beer culture. 3+ years of experience in the beer industry.  Knowledge of the overall global beer industry, international trends, etc.  The ability to engage & captivate a crowd on any occasion.  Beer expertise and in-depth understanding of its various brewing processes. Cicerone Certified Server is a minimum, while having Beer Sommelier / Certified Cicerone, IBD General Cert, or other industry qualification is favourable, (trade experience may be considered in lieu, with an understanding that a trade relevant qualification along with Certified Cicerone / Beer Sommelier is mandatory within first 6 months). Full clean driving license with access to own vehicle an advantage but not a prerequisite to role.  Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.  Ability to work on own initiative and be able to interpret lack of clear instruction with full responsibility for implementing projects and KPIs. Applicant should be driven, able to multitask, and competitive.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to create & deliver great presentations.
