Purpose:

Uniphar are embarking on an ambitious, multi-year transformation program and are seeking a Technical Architect to support our teams across our transformation initiatives. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical Architect to join our team, responsible for overseeing infrastructure and cloud environments within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing complex IT environments, with a focus on cloud infrastructure. The Technical Architect will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our systems as we continue to grow and innovate.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Architecture:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient technical architectures.
  • Documentation of environments, cloud infrastructure and dependencies between them.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing infrastructure and propose improvements to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve our architecture capabilities.

Cloud Management:

  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices for cloud environments.
  • Work with cloud service providers to stay updated on new features, services, and cost models.

Environment Design and Planning:

  • Lead the design and planning of development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define environment requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Implement best practices for environment design to support efficient development and testing processes.
  • Foster an environment of innovation and continuous improvement in line with organizational goals.

Configuration Management:

  • Establish and maintain configuration management processes for all environments.
  • Implement version control and change management for configuration items.
  • Ensure consistency and reliability across environments through effective configuration management.
  • Understand and communicate changes effectively where changes are likely to affect other systems and teams.

Vendor Management:

  • Engage with vendors to evaluate and select solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and manage relationships to ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Collaborate with procurement to negotiate contracts and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular vendor reviews to assess their alignment with evolving business needs.

Demand Management:

  • Work closely with project managers & architects to understand upcoming project demands on environments.
  • Develop and implement strategies for scaling environments to meet demand effectively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and schedule environment resources.
  • Monitor and forecast resource utilization to proactively address potential bottlenecks.

Access Governance:

  • Implement and enforce access controls and governance policies for environments.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with security and access policies.
  • Collaborate with security teams to address any access-related vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for access governance processes.

Project Responsibilities:

  • Working within the guidelines and to the objectives defined by any project or program currently running
  • Report task updates and status reports to any relevant project streams
  • Prioritize work items and tasks based on project or program guidance.

Key Skills, Experiences & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms preferably Azure.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Git for Enterprise, Azure Devops).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with SAP RISE is a bonus.
  • Good working experience with SaaS solutions and integrations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in a cloud and solutions architecture context.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • In-depth understanding of security best practices for cloud environments.
  • Experience implementing access controls and governance policies.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Ability to evaluate vendor performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to inspire and lead teams toward achieving strategic goals.
