SUMMARY
As part of SAP’s Corporate Processes and Information Technology (CPIT) unit, the IT Strategic Central Services (SCS) team provides end-to-end strategy support. This includes driving all cascading efforts of the organization’s strategic direction, based on SAP’s corporate goal of delivering and running The Intelligent Enterprise. One of the SCS key areas is Software Asset Management (SAM). 

About us
The purpose of the SAM team is to deliver effective software asset management services to realize maximum value for the enterprise. The Software Portfolio Management (SPM) team – within the SAM unit – is responsible for the management of the 3rd party software central portfolio that enables SAP’s internal LoBs to achieve their business outcomes by providing best in class software for each of the business capabilities (e.g. Collaboration, Human Resource Management, Artificial Intelligence, etc.).

THE ROLE
As a Software Portfolio Management Specialist, you will do the following:

  • Software lifecycle management processes: Perform software lifecycle management related activities, which includes demand management, support contract negotiation, procure software, maintain software pricing framework, support software entitlement tracking & chargeback, fulfil contract & software vendor expectations to ensure effective management of central software portfolio.
  • Quality:  Perform software data quality assurance checks in key asset attributes and understand how key asset attributes support service management processes (e.g. software lifecycle management, software financial management, software compliance management, etc.).
  • Central contact: Act as central contact for a select set of 3rd party software (your portfolio), consulting with Lines of Business/ end users to provide license consulting.
  • Compliance:  Actively support software license compliance assurance throughout the software asset lifecycle.
  • Partnerships: Build collaborative relationships that result in sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders (e.g. service delivery organizations, software consumers within SAP, etc.).
  • Continuous improvement & optimization: Actively support continuous improvement of major business processes; as well as minimize software spend via contract and consumption optimization, etc.
  • Metrics reporting: Support reporting of software lifecycle KPIs.


ROLE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
 Required skills

  • University Degree in Business Informatics / Business Administration/ Computer Science / Informatics/ Engineering or equivalent experience with emphasis on Computer Science, Informatics or Business Administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in or willing to learn about Software Asset Management e.g. process operations, risk mitigation, process controls, service transformation, etc.
  • Strong ability to self-organize and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, deal well with ambiguity and have a pro-active mindset.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
  • A passion for growth and personal development.

 
Preferred skills A proven track record in financial management (e.g. forecasting, budgeting, accruals, invoice processing, payment setup, etc.).
Knowledge of industry-leading software asset management technologies (e.g. Flexera One).
Advanced user of MS Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) & task management tools (e.g. Jira, Kanban)
 

WORK EXPERIENCE
Required experience
5+ yrs. professional work experience in IT consulting or IT services with a strong focus on operations or projects

Preferred experience
Working experience in software portfolio management and/ or software compliance. Experience in Program, Project, or Service management.
Experience in process & service definition and modelling.
Work in international, virtual teams distributed across multiple time-zones.
Experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC), Program, Project, or Service Management.
