The Digital Healthcare business group seeks a Biosensor Algorithm Engineer Lead to support the development of a new biosensor system. This biosensor system combines electrochemical/optical sensors, microfluidic components, measurement electronics, and software to perform highly accurate and reliable biomarker measurements for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. System operation control, data acquisition and processing, sensor fusion algorithms are key components of this system.
The successful candidate will lead the development & verification of algorithms for one of our key biosensor projects. The algorithms will ultimately be deployed to a biosensor reader which is used in a healthcare application. The role will involve analyzing raw data from our biosensor system and developing an optimized method for extracting accurate and reliable biomarker measurements from this data. The successful candidate will evaluate a variety of data processing techniques to extract additional information from our sensor data, improving overall system accuracy and reliability. They will work closely with our software team to integrate this algorithm into a production solution. In addition, the candidate will play a key role in providing analysis of sensor data which is used for design optimization and customer report out. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate closely with other key technical stakeholders in the project to ensure alignment on roadmap, requirements, and system architecture.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead the development and verification of an algorithm for the biosensor system. Engage with project stakeholders to understand and define requirements for algorithm. Collaborate with project technical lead, and sensor design team to understand physics behind sensor operation and use this knowledge to improve algorithm performance. Analyze sensor data and provide insights on sensor performance and reliability. Experiment with new methodologies for processing sensor data, detecting faults, and improving overall measurement performance. Engage with fluidics design and verification leads to understand fluidic impacts on measurement performance and provide data analysis which supports optimization of fluidic sequence. Analyze data to understand potential fault conditions & corner cases which must be accounted for in the end application. Engage with software lead to facilitate porting of prototype algorithms to the target embedded system. Articulate analysis progress and results verbally and in writing – establish document control and traceability of analysis. Support the development of test protocols used for characterizing system performance and determining reliability.Qualifications & Requirements.
BEng or Higher in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline. At least 10 years of experience in a role which involved designing algorithms for sensor data. Track record of releasing algorithm solutions to production. Experience developing production algorithms for medical applications. Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical algorithms. Extensive knowledge of employing signal processing techniques for transforming/optimizing raw sensor data. Experience analyzing time series data from electrochemical/optical sensors. Good working knowledge of physics unpinning sensor operation. Knowledge of software version control (GIT) and software test methodology and tools. Proficiency in using a programming language such as Python, MATLAB for algorithm development. Proficiency using Python Libraries typically used for data analysis (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, scikit Learn). Knowledge of Machine learning algorithm development. Knowledge of the implications of developing an algorithm for an embedded system.#LI-CO1
