Role Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, as a Maintenance Engineer within the Maintenance Engineering team, you are responsible for some Electrical and Mechanical problem solving and providing technical support for the plant facilities and services (including compressed air, refrigeration and steam). The Maintenance Engineer will help support the Production Team in achieving their targets and maintaining optimum performance.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Routine checking and monitoring of Plant and Equipment operation to ensure optimum plant performance and compliance with contractual requirements;
  • Calibration and testing of plant equipment, alarms, and instrumentation in accordance with CMMS, Vendor recommendations, and/or contractual requirements;
  • Completion of Planned Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance required in accordance with CMMS, and recording completion of same with CMMS;
  • Liaison with sub-contractors to ensure maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Timely response to plant/equipment failures with plant repair or replacement as appropriate, and recording completion of same with CMMS;
  • Problem solving and trouble-shooting mechanical, process, electrical problems and application of good working principles;
  • Identification and management of appropriate spares required to ensure reliability of plant operation;
  • Ownership of permit to work system, general work permit, LOTO, hot works permit etc.
  • Use of remote monitoring tools such as BMS to verify plant condition.
  • Availability for response to plant failures outside normal operation hours in accordance with roster for same, and general availability to assist in remote trouble shooting where appropriate;
  • Make suggestions to improve plant reliability and operational efficiency in conjunction with Team Lead;
  • General maintenance duties required for plant, services and WWTP;
  • All duties to be carried out in accordance with relevant safety procedures, documentation and training;
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all work is carried out accurately and with due diligence;
  • Effective time management and execution of work within defined timeline and budgetary constraints;
  • Plan and co-ordinate all shutdowns in conjunction with management;
  • Ensure Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company specific, are fully respected and taken account of.
  • Carrying out maintenance and repair of some electrical installations including panel fault finding and VSD replacement.

 Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Language Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical qualification 
  • Qualification in instrumentation an advantage
  • Multi-skilled / cross-skilled ethos 
  • Previous experience in a facility maintenance environment would be an advantage.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings would be an advantage.
  • Some knowledge in maintenance and experience of supporting a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience working on technically challenging applications would be an advantage
  •  Ability to interact with suppliers, internal customers and external contractors.
