Job Description

As an Android Application Team Manager at Motorola Solutions, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing state-of-the-art Android applications tailored for mission-critical two-way radios. This pivotal role offers the chance to not only apply your existing skill set but also to broaden your expertise in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.

In this leadership position, you will:

Manage and mentor a dedicated team of professionals, including product owners, technical leads, and architects, ensuring that best practices are followed and that team members are continuously developing their skills.

Play a key role in the full lifecycle of Android application development, from concept and design to development, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance.

Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams to define clear objectives, design innovative features, and deliver high-quality functionality that meets the rigorous demands of our users.

Drive the strategic planning and execution of projects, ensuring that timelines are met and that deliverables align with the company’s vision and standards.

Maintain high coding standards and push for continuous improvement in both the process and the product, keeping up with the latest industry trends and technological advancements.

Oversee the integration of new technologies and methodologies to enhance productivity and efficiency within the team.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the Analysis, design, development and maintenance software for the organization's products and systems.

Staying up to date with the latest Android technologies and industry trends

Lead and manage all aspects of the product development process including requirement definition, design, implementation and testing.

Supervise the management and project deliveries of all software development.

Collaborate with different stakeholders from SW development, System Test, PDM, SCM, Quality and Hardware.

Responsible for timeline alignment and resources management.

Inter-group and intra-group teamwork in a multi-site world-wide development environment.

Responsible for meeting project deliverables and timeline requirements in a highly dynamic environment.

Manage team’s performance and quality metrics.

Contribute to the improvement of existing software development processes.


Basic Requirements

A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with experience building cross-platform native apps (iOS and/or Android) and web applications

Thorough knowledge of Android mobile app deployment using Java or Kotlin and familiarity with Android SDK, Android Studio

Prior experience in version control systems and Exposure to Jetpack Compose with hands-on experience in building UIs

Familiarity with a wide range of Android Framework components such as Bluetooth, Sensors, Widgets, Services, etc.

Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect applications to back-end service

Knowledgeable in modern mobile and frontend build pipelines and tools

Familiarity with Android security features and mechanisms

Solid understanding of software engineering principles and practices

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
