Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse/Clinical Educator to join the Endoscopy team at Louth County Hospital.

The Endoscopy Departments in ULHT are part of the Trustwide Clinical Support Service Directorate with departments on Grantham, Lincoln, Boston and Louth Sites. The Endoscopy Units carry out both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. All endoscopy units across the trust are JAG accredited and provide a gold standard service to our patients. We have excellent training facilities and pride ourselves in supporting our staff to access training via our Nurse Protected time. There are many opportunities for career development within Endoscopy and we fully support and encourage staff in these areas.

Main duties of the job

This role is to assist in the provision of the Endoscopy Service to all inpatients and outpatients for a 7 day week 24 hour a day service, including weekend and Bank Holiday working .

There is a requirement to support and act as a source of expertise in Endoscopy to ULHT staff and patients supporting the Band 7 Sister at all times and deputising in her absence. The role will incorporate clinical practice, consultation and education as required throughout the patient journey in Endoscopy .

The successful applicant will also assist in the development of the Endoscopy support service, influencing patient care through audit, research and specialist education to patients, carers and other professionals working closely with the Clinical lead.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Senior Nurse experience/experience taking charge/coordinating a clinical area To have a range of experiences in nursing acute patients. Demonstrate an ability to assess and introduce change consistent with research evidence.

Desirable

Experience of delivering Education programmes Experience of undertaking Research/audit Knowledge of clinical Effectiveness and audit Endoscopy Experience

Evidence of Particular: - Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes

Essential

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all members of staff Expanded competencies Evidence of assessing and supervising junior colleagues

Qualifications

Essential

1st Level Nurse with NMC Registration Evidence of continuing professional development Teaching Qualification (eg ENB 998,FLIPS)

Desirable

Nursing degree clinical qualification post registration
