A day in the life.
As our National Copyeditor on the National Marketing and Communications Team, you’ll support and execute business development and marketing initiatives to raise the profile of the Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) brand. You’ll also serve as a strategic partner to our business line and growth marketers in the development, execution, and administration of marketing programs and projects, with and without direct supervision.
Your specific responsibilities would include:
• Edit and proofread written content for accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
• Ensure adherence to company’s written style guide, including AP style, and maintain consistency in writing style and tone.
• Gain fluency in and champion the company’s voice and brand story in all written content.
• Assist with regular audits of the company’s editorial and writing style guide.
• Verify facts, references, and sources to ensure accuracy and credibility.
• Collaborate with content creators to improve content flow, readability, and overall quality.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for content improvements, including restructuring and rephrasing.
• Exercise judgment and make editorial decisions to resolve ambiguities and enhance content quality.
• Employ generative artificial intelligence with discernment and in alignment with company best practices.
• Initiate compliance review process and document compliance requirements for future content development.
• Serve as an in-house advisor on AP style guide and the company’s editorial guidelines.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and evolving editing techniques.
Our future colleague.
We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:
• 3+ years of copyediting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a copyeditor, with a strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
• Familiarity with style guides, including AP style.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Comfortable using collaboration tools such as Teams, email, and online Microsoft applications and other technology as needed to work successfully as part of a team in a remote environment.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in productivity applications such as Microsoft 365 (required), Smartsheet (preferred), and Wrike (preferred).
• Comfortable using collaboration tools such as Teams and Office for the web in Microsoft 365.
• Enthusiastic user of AI and eager to adapt to new use cases for AI over time.
• Positive mindset and creative problem-solving skills.
