Job Title: Person in Charge (PIC)

The Group brings together three leading brands in Irish social care - Orchard Residential, Orchard Community Care and Orchard Fostering.  

We are delighted to announce we are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to be part of a new project involving working with displaced children and young people who are separated from their families and place of origin, seeking asylum, and preparing them for an onward placement. The residential unit is located in Dromore West County Sligo.

The focus of the therapeutic programme will be utilising the Trauma Informed Model of Care, with particular emphasis on building secure and trusting relationships with the children and young people and also incorporating a positive Psychology approach, which is strengths orientated. 

• This role is to ensure that the delivery of Orchard Residential Care is carried out to the highest standards that meet both professional and business requirements.
• This post is to manage the Children's home to deliver a high quality, integrated approach that enables young people placed in Orchard Residential Care to achieve positive outcomes. 
• This post requires you to work proactively with the Senior Services Manager / Head of Services to contribute to the optimum delivery and development of Orchard Residential Care.
• You will be required to promote a culture within Orchard Residential Care and all aspects of its work that is respectful, non-discriminatory and embracing of diversity.
• This post requires a flexible approach to working hours, primarily to ensure the safety and well-being of young people and staff. 
• The post holder is required to lead and participate in the On-Call support system.

Candidate Requirements:

       A recognised Level 8 Social Care qualification.

       In cases where level 7 Social Care has been achieved, this must be accompanied with a qualification in management.

       Five years' direct experience of working in residential childcare, and/or managing services to vulnerable children and young people.

       Excellent communication and report writing skills.

       Proficient IT skills and understanding of utilising word, adobe, excel etc.

       Full clean drivers licence which has been held for more than one year.
