Data Governance Specialist

ZIE Ireland is looking for a Data Governance Specialist to implement and oversee our data requirements and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory and Zurich Group requirements, policies, and frameworks.

The successful candidate will work across all areas of the company including with data owners, custodians, and third-party owners. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to and drive key strategic initiatives in an exciting area with increasing focus.

Your Role

As Data Governance Specialist, reporting into the Head of Operations Governance, your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

Coordinate, embed and oversee the company’s obligations in respect of data governance including the implementation and oversight of relevant policies, controls, regulations, and guidance, aligned with the Zurich Data Commitment and Data Governance Standards. Work with key internal, senior and Group stakeholders to ensure required data and information governance processes are in place, while providing advice and support to functional Data Owners and Custodians Coordinate and oversee the implementation of internal control frameworks and ongoing risk and control requirements such as conducting internal controls assessments and supporting independent testing. Provide input and expertise into strategic projects taking a lead role as required. Develop and roll out new regulatory and/or Group initiatives and best practice in the area of data, such as Group-led AI guidelines. Coordinate data incident management working closely with areas such as information security, business resilience, data protection and third-party. Continually develop and provide subject matter expertise ensuring good data management practices, governance, culture, and behaviours are in place across our most important functions, supporting decision making processes and business changes as required.  Develop and roll out continuous data and information governance led training and communications.  Support required reporting into risk committees and other governance fora.

Your Skills and Experience

As Data Governance Specialist your skills and qualifications will include:

3-5 or more years of experience in a related field. Demonstratable experience in the field of either data protection, risk management, compliance or other assurance related roles would be advantageous. Good understanding of operational processes across the company. Excellent communication, relationship building and influencing skills, including with senior management. Ability to use planning and organisational skill to deliver on business requirements. Delivery focused, with a demonstrated ability in managing multiple tasks and deadlines. Strong analytical skills and decision-making ability Strong business and industry knowledge.
