Tipperary, where we operate a cutting-edge residential service dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children and young persons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a safe and nurturing environment for children, prioritising their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • Assist in daily routines, including meals, hygiene, and bedtime, ensuring a consistent and supportive approach.
  • Provide empathetic emotional support and guidance to children, tailored to their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to maintain consistency in care standards.
  • Monitor and supervise children to guarantee their safety and security.
  • Respond effectively to behavioural or emotional challenges.
  • Implement individualised care plans for each child, documenting progress, development, and any incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed records of daily activities, observations, and notable events.
  • Foster effective communication with children, their families, and colleagues.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and case conferences.
  • Advocate for the best interests of each child, collaborating with professionals such as educators and health care providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Encourage and support educational activities, working closely with educational staff to address challenges.
  • Organise and participate in recreational and social activities to enhance the children's overall well-being.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive community within the residential unit.
  • Be prepared to handle crises and emergencies efficiently, following established protocols.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with child protection services, social workers, and external agencies involved in the children's care.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current with best practices and legislative changes.

Note: Social care workers may also have specific responsibilities related to the unique needs of the children in their care, aligning with the principles of child welfare, protection, and development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum QQI level 7 degree in Social Care or a related field.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Proven experience in the mainstream social care sector.
  • Experience in a childrens' residential setting is preferable
