Dublin, Ireland Amazon Data Services Ireland Limited - A65 Full time
Amazon’s network is a key differentiator for Amazon Cloud Computing and Web Services (AWS), enabling the global operation of thousands of applications across millions of servers worldwide. The AWS Networking team develops and operates the network platform for all of Amazon including e-commerce products and cloud computing solutions. This platform is industry-leading for its efficiency, throughput and reliability, and it is critical to the success of hundreds of thousands of AWS customers.

The ideal candidate will be clearly passionate about the large opportunity for software innovation that Amazon’s network presents and about web services in general. This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality solutions in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast. If you're looking to solve challenging technical problems and create great products that protect and enhance customer availability, then we would like to talk to you.

At Capacity Delivery Services we are responsible for deploying network capacity in an unconstrained, redundant, and timely way.

We are intensively focused in building mechanisms and automation to enable our operations to Zero Touch (ZT) scale our network across all the core networking space.
We have developed and maintain a wide gamut of tools to help scaling our network seamlessly and automatically. We are now facing the next challenge: providing a software ecosystem capable of amalgamating all tools, operations, procedures in a single manageable, scalable, automated entity.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will be part of a two-pizza team in an org of 100+ engineers. As a software development engineer, you will:
- Help establish technical direction, foster team culture, grow junior engineers and deliver exciting features to internal and external customers.
- Take end to end ownership of the software development life cycle. This includes design, testing, deployment and operating
- Be very hands-on; work with the engineering team to manage the day-to-day development activities by leading architecture decisions, participating in designs, design review, code review, and implementation
- Champion operational, technical and process improvements
- Work with your manager and other engineers in delivering to the roadmap
- Interact with customers to respond to queries, issues, and complaints.

A day in the life
You will have the opportunity to design and implement systems that delight our customers. You will also learn how things are built and deployed in AWS, brush up on operational excellence, and apply it on the job

- Collaborate with other engineers towards broader organizational goals and projects
- Collaborate with product and program managers, principal engineers for feature definition and delivery
- Work with other AWS teams to build innovative solutions that create value for our customers, supporting them in their network deployment activities
- Contribute to technical designs

About the team
