The Role


Bioprocess Engineering is core to delivering our product pipeline across large molecule platforms. Bioprocess engineers work cross functionally with operations, process scientists, quality assurance, microbiologists, automation, maintenance and others to support day-to-day manufacturing. Bioprocess engineers are a core function at Kinsale and are highly regarded and responsible in their positions.

Bioprocess engineers are accountable for the correct functioning, qualification & maintenance of equipment systems used to manufacture drug substance at Kinsale.

Responsibilities

Providing Engineering support to Large Molecule manufacturing as a core member of the cross-functional process team through application of process & chemical engineering fundamentals Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment and processes. Utilise root cause analysis techniques to investigate process and equipment issues and deliver robust and sustainable corrective and preventative actions Monitor, assess and document equipment performance to maintain ongoing qualification. Develop and maintain the basis of safety for process equipment. Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and being the safety champion within their process team Work closely with automation and maintenance departments to establish and maintain equipment performance, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvements.


Basic Qualifications

Hons Degree qualified – Process / Chemical Engineer or Bioprocess / Biochemical Engineering degree with ideally 3-5 years’ relevant experience in Small or Large Molecule Manufacturing Unit Operations.

Those engineers with previous small molecule or other API manufacturing support engineering experience looking for a new challenge will be provided with training in the large molecule manufacturing space, if successful.

Additional Skills/Preferences

Deep technical interest and understanding in the field of Process & Chemical Engineering. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a Process Team consisting of a diverse group of management, production, science, quality and engineering professionals. Creativity to identify improvement opportunities and the tenacity/initiative to see them implemented. Guidance/mentoring of others through processes. Flexibility to meet business needs.
