The Role / Location

Savills Ireland is looking for a professional, organized and self-motivated Junior Interior Designer who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Junior Interior Designer must be proactive and capable of working on their own initiative as well as assisting with all aspects of design development, sourcing, meeting preparation, technical drawings, maintaining organized binders and sample library. Candidate should be able to work within existing systems and help create new systems for continued success.

The Junior Interior Designer will oversee the design and decorative process for both working and living areas from start to finish. Their main duties include sketching various design plans, determining costs for different projects and sourcing materials and products for the designs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Working within a team to interpret a clients' brief into an exceptional space
  • Supporting Senior team members in delivery of Concept, Developed & Technical design submissions
  • Supporting Senior team members in presenting to clients
  • Space-planning, including Occupancy planning & marketing plans
  • Supporting the creation of design briefs - attendance at briefing interviews & workshops
  • Preparing finishes palettes & co-ordinating samples
  • Engagement with suppliers & contractors
  • Preparation of FFE schedules
  • Preparing furniture proposals, co-ordinating showroom visits & client workshops
  • Develop schemes using 2D & 3D computer aided packages i.e. AutoCAD, SketchUp, Vray, Adobe Illustrator etc.
  • Assisting in the production of technical design detail for Tender or Construction packs, such as; General Arrangement Plans, Reflective Ceiling Plans, Elevations, Joinery Details, Specifications etc. (this is not an exhaustive production list)
  • Producing 3D images using rendering package & Photoshops, subject to capacity & third party outsourcing.
  • Producing reports & presentations using InDesign & PowerPoint.
  • Producing/maintaining other documents & schedules using programmes such as Word & Excel.
  • Good understanding of Irish Building regulation and how to implement them into your design
  • Up-keep of trends, new products & services, attending events, lunch/learns, CPDs etc.
  • Liaising and coordinating with internal colleagues/departments.
  • Travelling to sites throughout Ireland and carrying out reports.
  • Ability to collaborate with in-house PM members and follow instructions from senior members of BPC department. Supporting the design team with other projects, and weekly design team tasks.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience, preferably in Commercial design
  • Motivated to achieve the highest quality output of design and documentation needed for the execution of multiple projects running simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design.
  • Goal orientated, flexible, extremely well organised and enjoy working within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise are essential.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capability of building good relations within other offices across the Savills Group and Clients.
  • Given the sensitive information the successful person will be privy to confidentiality and discretion is crucial
  • Strong creativity, artistic ability, and imagination
  • Ability to read and draw blueprints
  • Knowledge of the quality, rates and locations of raw materials
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Irish, and UK building regulations/code and design standards.
  • Strong concept generation ability, and visualisation skills.
  • Strong spatial awareness and space planning skills
  • Attention to detail
