This is what you will do:
The Director, Head of Clinical Demand Planning is responsible for developing a robust clinical planning function and capability for Alexion’s rapidly growing and dynamic clinical pipeline. This will include working with a matrix team within Clinical Supply & Operations Management as well as with key stakeholders in GO Commercial One-Plan and partners (i.e. PDCS and Quality).
The Director, Head of Clinical Demand Planning uses analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and enhance supply chain processes through managing and interpreting data, identifying problems, and implementing technology solutions which support clinical supply planning operations. This role develops long-range supply requirements for Alexion’s expanding clinical trial portfolio across all development phases. The position will support and on-board best in class technology solutions in order to develop and execute a unified systems strategy for clinical supply operations.
You will be responsible for:
Develop strong business partnerships with key stakeholders across PDCS & AO
Consolidate, analyze and report out on demand for the clinical trial portfolio, including insights into movement vs prior forecasting
Use simulation tools and supply chain expertise to design and optimize lean supply chains for individual studies, defining allocation of contingency stock. Where possible seek innovative flexible supply chain solutions capable of supporting multiple studies.
Perform drug supply management and expiry/retest date tracking of all clinical trial materials. Supports implementation of a supply planning and forecasting tool.
Partner with the Clinical Supply Planning function to evolve the C&OP activity into an insights and action driven process
Perform key scenario planning over the increased volume of CMO's, trials and regional requirements.
Responsible for gathering and interpreting data, identifying problems, and implementing solutions which support clinical supply planning operations.
Analyzes current procedures and identifies areas of improvement with a focus on ERP, IRT and distribution and planning procedures.
Partner closely with Global Supply Chain to produce and publish consolidated commercial and clinical S&OPs.
Own and support all systems-related activities that support current and future business, including clinical inventory systems
Drive development and implementation of clinical supply-related aspects of digital platform efforts
Develop and maintain an integrated roadmap of Information Technology and systems related to clinical business needs.
Contribute to KPI development that drive a continuous improvement mindset for the planning process with the planning team and stakeholders.
Support demand analytics & insights for multiple ad-hoc initiatives, including Business Development activities
Championing & fostering a culture of inclusion, engagement, operational excellence and continuous improvement
You will need to have:
Knowledge of Clinical Development processes and supply chain.
Strong Technical acumen and experience implementing and maintaining clinical supply technologies.
Demand forecasting, supply chain planning and distribution experience.
Working knowledge of global regulatory environment impacting the provision of investigational products
Experience defining and evaluating critical metrics to measure forecast accuracy as well as improve cycle times and inventory management.
Demonstrated project management and process improvement skills.
Strong understanding of SAP inventory and planning systems/tools.
Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and management skills.
Strong attention to detail, ability to work with autonomy, and able to communicate clearly to Sr. Management.
Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Project, Power Point, Access and Excel.
BS/BA degree in supply chain related or drug development discipline or equivalent qualification or experience.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with focus on global clinical investigational and/or commercial product supply chain management and technologies. Strong understanding of GCP’s, GMP’s and ICH guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.

Experience defining and evaluating critical metrics to measure forecast accuracy as well as improve cycle times and inventory management
Proven decision making and negotiation skills
ERP, IRT and distribution experience
