CRH has an exciting opportunity within its Group Risk & Insurance function. Based in the Group’s headquarters at Stonemasons Way, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 the Group Risk & Insurance team has responsibility for management of the Group’s global insurance program, which encompasses (i) pooling major exposures (ii) retaining portions of those exposures either within the Group-owned “captive” insurance entities or through external market insurance programs and (iii) employing strongly rated insurance companies to act in varying capacities as carriers across multiple lines.

 

The senior role will be cross-divisional providing the successful applicant with a high level of exposure to the Group’s operating entities, to other Group functions and to Group Captive Boards, offering significant opportunities to deliver value and to develop wider knowledge of the organisation.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
The key elements of the role are outlined below. Flexibility may be required, with some core process elements, together with periodic emphasis on project-based activities.

 

Group Insurance Programs

  • Annual management of the Group’s Insurance Program.
  • Collection, verification, and consolidation of sums insured and financial data for the annual renewal of the Group’s insurance program worldwide through utilization of Web Risk data system.
  • Production of renewal submissions for captive managers, fronting insurers, brokers, and reinsurance panel.
  • Preparation of information for annual London Insurance Market renewal presentations. 
  • Provide support with benchmarking, and allocation of premiums to CRH operating companies.
  • Administration and distribution of appropriate insurance documentation including, Group insurance manual, certificates of insurance and contract documentation to support operating company business objectives.
  • Analysis and loss ratio calculations for captive accounts and renewal premium allocation.
  • Provision of data and information for Board Meetings & Committee Meetings when required.
  • Identification of potential opportunities to enhance the Group’s Insurance Program either through expansion of current wordings or analysis of potential for new lines of cover. 

 

Claims Management and Oversight

  • Provide support in management of claims across multiple of insurance with specific focus on large losses.
  • Preparation of analysis of claims loss ratios, and trends for operating company presentation.
  • Preparation for attendance at quarterly claims stewardship meetings and following up efficiently on actions.
  • Proactive management of daily insurance queries from CRH operating companies.

 

M&A / Divestments

  • Lead and manage insurance workstream and provide advice in insurance due diligence processes for Group M&A activity.
  • Implement the required insurance strategy for targets and identify synergies to ensure the optimum solution is achieved.
  • Preparation of coverage schedules and obtain market comparisons and benchmarks for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaising with senior stakeholders, leading and managing SPA reviews and Warranty & Indemnity insurance process where required.

Experience / Education
You are/have:

  • Professional qualification (ACII or equivalent).
  • 10+ years’ experience working in a broking, underwriting or insurance/risk management role in industry or in a parent.
  • Detailed knowledge across captives and multi lines of insurance and coverage technicalities.
  • Specific claims handling experience and language capabilities would be an advantage.
  • Proven track record in liaising with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills and attention to detail, with a commercial mindset focused on economic value.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
