Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role outlined in this job description are indicative of the currently envisaged scope and may be added to or altered as required, in line with the requirement of the client across Business Units/Department. They will include, but not limited to, the following:

 ⢠Support the current projects within the clients Decarbonized Heat and Bioenergy team. Some of the projects currently under the development:

⢠Support the development of the Fossil Fuel Ban roadmap in Ireland under development,

⢠Support the development of the clients Biomass Fuel Sustainability Certification Verification process.

⢠Aid in the Renewable Heat Obligation analysis under development.

⢠Assist with the District Heating Roadmap development.

⢠Support any other additional bioenergy and decarbonized heat project in relation with policy development in Ireland as required. To ensure that activity peaks within the Department are addressed in a proactive manner, it is expected that the candidate appointed to this role will need to be flexible in terms of working hours during these periods.


Knowledge & Skills

The knowledge and skills required include but are not limited to the following: Decarbonized Heat Related Reporting/Analysis

⢠Assess the feasibility of district heating systems in Ireland and develop strategies for municipalities to evaluate heat demand and identify district heating prospects. Provide guidance on new EU regulations related to co-generation and combined heat and power (CHP).

⢠Contribute to the policy analysis for decarbonized heat strategies, technologies, and support in line with relevant EU directives, national laws, and technological support areas including Bioenergy, Heat pumps, Solar, Carbon capture, Geothermal, District Heating, and Hydrogen.

⢠Support the analysis of emerging technologies through geospatial analysis and other relevant methods.

⢠Evaluate and counsel on market development for decarbonization technologies, including the assessment of certification processes, supply chain management, business modelling, local authority implementation strategies, and the impact of EU legislation on pricing and technological adoption targets. Bioenergy Systems Related Analysis

⢠Perform comprehensive analysis on the sustainability of bioenergy supply chains to guide the creation of sustainability benchmarks for government initiatives.

⢠Undertake thorough research on both local and imported bioenergy resources, evaluating supply chain efficacy and the effects of new international and EU policies on resource availability and cost.

⢠Provide strategic advice on viable business models for bioenergy ventures, considering regulatory approval processes.

⢠Offer analytical support for the advancement of renewable gas technologies, employing tools such as geospatial analysis.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate.

Expertise

⢠Proficient in conducting comprehensive analyses in emerging fields and providing strategic advice to decision-makers. Analysis covering decarbonized energy (ie heat or bioenergy) will be highly regarded but not strictly required (ie energy audits).

⢠Third level Professional Qualification in an Environmental Science, Engineering, or similar STEM discipline

⢠Relevant experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, or related fields. Professional or academic achievements in decarbonized energy (ie heat or bioenergy) will be highly regarded but not strictly required.

⢠Experience or demonstrated interest in sustainable energy projects, including but not limited to renewable energy development and sustainability assessments.

⢠Proven ability in project management or coordination, with emphasis on teamwork and stakeholder engagement. Experience in diverse settings is a plus.

⢠An interest on implementation of sustainable (decarbonized) energy in Ireland.

Technical Analysis & Dissemination

⢠Strong proficiency in articulating complex concepts to diverse audiences through both written and verbal communication.

Team Management and Leadership

⢠Demonstrated experience in team leadership with a focus on setting clear objectives, monitoring project progression, and maintaining high standards with minimal supervision.

⢠Ability to cultivate professional relationships and collaborate effectively within cross[1]functional teams.

Management & Analysis

 ⢠Proven ability to deliver outcomes by managing project situations, schedules, and risks while making informed strategic decisions.

⢠Capable of working under stringent timelines and maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

⢠Commitment to mentoring peers and enhancing collective team expertise. IT Skills

⢠Competence in standard IT tools and software for data analysis, project management, and presentations. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
