Passivation Department Lead


Excellent new role leading my clients Passivation Department based in Charleville, Co Cork . Chemical passivation is a process used in manufacturing to remove free iron from the surface of stainless-steel equipment. The Passivation Department delivers Chemical Passivation solutions to the Pharmaceutical and Food and Beverage sectors ensuring the longevity and performance of manufacturing equipment as optimally as possible whilst delivering a World Class Customer Experience.


The Passivation Department Lead is responsible for the leadership, management, development, deployment, and output of the Passivation department. The Department Lead will ensure that all customer technical and operational knowledge is fed back to the relevant parties within the local Engineering leadership teams in an accurate and efficient manner. This is primarily achieved through the creating of Service Reports, where accurate, timely and presentable reports are required as a matter of routine. The Passivation Department Lead is an important and integral part of the team and will be required at times to travel to project manage larger support activities. 

The Passivation Department Lead must possess a positive attitude, whilst focusing on delivering a KPI driven service.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

⢠To plan and schedule the delivery of Passivation project and contracted service activities.

⢠Run Project on Client Site to achieve project objectives. 

⢠Attend all project related site meetings with client. 

⢠Control project materials and budget. 

⢠Support Project Engineers involved on the project.

⢠Organize & work closely with Companyâs workforce on site to deliver the specified project objectives.

⢠Monitor and report on project progress (through PM reports) and identify and manage any risks to the 

projectâs schedule or commercial objectives.

⢠Manage Project schedule to ensure that the system is delivered on time, within budget, to specification 

whilst meeting the highest standards of quality. 

⢠To respond to customer requests for non-contracted service visits.

⢠To ensure that suitable and sufficient Risk Assessments are created and accepted for all Service Contracts.

⢠Ensure contemporaneous completion of passivation documentation packs and approve same.

⢠Ensure that time and material costs are collected correctly for each service order and service contract.

⢠Management of Passivation inventory, Passivation Skids, Spares and Tools.

⢠Procurement of chemicals and stock management of same.

⢠To provide engineering support to the Site Supervisors and general operatives as required.

⢠Review, process and escalate site reports in a timely manner.

⢠To carry out Customer Service Visits as required.

⢠To produce KPI documents and other tracking documents if required.

⢠Creation of Passivation estimation quotations for the department.

⢠Support S&M Project Engineering with compilation of data packs for projects from time to time.

⢠Maintain CRM database for S&M Department.

Performance Metrics

⢠Delivery of Passivation Solutions within defined KPIs and to accepted quality.

⢠As Executed Margins to be maintained to at least âAs Soldâ levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

⢠Commercial awareness and attention to detail.

⢠Minimum 5 yearsâ experience in a related role 

⢠Project Management qualification desirable.

⢠Experience of preparing and reviewing technical submissions.

⢠Excellent communication and organizational skills.

⢠Financial & Budgeting Experience.

⢠Ability to manage multi-disciplined project team.

⢠Ability to work under oneâs own initiative and meet strict deadlines.

⢠Proactive self-starter who can operate independently whilst adhering to process.

⢠Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

⢠Customer centric communications skills and behaviours.

⢠Must be able to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

⪠Mechanical Engineering degree, Process & Chemical Engineering degree, Chemistry degree or equivalent- e.g., with a minimum of 5 yearsâ experience.

⪠Experience of CIP (Clean in Place).

⪠Experience in architecting and delivering Service Solutions.

⪠Extensive and proven experience in delivering effective customer support.

⪠Managing Health and Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely).

⪠Experience working with diverse teams is highly desirable.

⪠Good understanding of GMP and previous experience of working in a GMP Environment is highly desirable.

⪠Experience of the Food processing, Chemical or pharmaceutical industry is desirable but not essential.

⪠Experience of CIP (Clean in place) cleaning of plants.

⪠Proficient in MS Office 365 (including Power BI, PowerApps and SharePoint) is desirable.
