Job Summary

 

Zurich Life Ireland is looking for an Application Support Analyst to work primarily on our policy administration systems.  The analyst will be responsible for monitoring production applications, handling/scheduling regular operational tasks for application functionality, and incident management.  They will be involved in troubleshooting, resolving any software and system issues, and providing root cause analysis with recommendations for improvements, to ensure we meet with needs of our users and customers.


The Application Support team works closely with internal Zurich teams, both IT and business, and external support partners to ensure optimum system availability and supporting our business users and customers.  
The diverse nature of the work and activities require that we occasionally work beyond normal business hours to ensure time critical deadlines are met.  Additional support at night or weekends may be required (all with appropriate remuneration.)

Your Role

 

The main responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:


•    Provide support services to users relating to a set of applications but primarily our policy administration system.
•    Monitor applications, activities, and processes to ensure timely and effective reporting, tracking, follow-up, and communication of problems to internal and external clients, technical resources, and management.
•    Perform and/or schedule standardised operational tasks/processes for application functionality.
•    Respond to Production Support issues.  
•    Troubleshoot incidents, collate detailed root cause analysis, resolve software and system problems, and recommend improvements to ensure we meet with the needs of our users and customers.

Your Skills and Experience

 

Education
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 4+ years of experience in application support or development.

 

Technical/Functional Skills
•    Software development experience. 
•    Debug, analysis & technical troubleshooting skills.
•    Writing queries and/or SQL.
•    Knowledge of iSeries and Cobol beneficial.
•    Application landscape knowledge.
•    Ability to create and maintain technical and support related documentation.

 

Non-Technical Skills
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
•    Effective communication, with ability to collaborate with internal and external teams and users.
•    Customer focused.
•    Organisational and planning skills, able to cope with varying workload and competing priorities.
•    Experience working in a Life Insurance provider beneficial.
 

Additional Information

 

Primary work location is Blackrock. Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
