We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Client Engineering team in Shannon. This role is crucial for the design and development of mechanical components and systems, with a strong focus on manufacturability. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and experience in general machining operations, CAD/CAM systems, and new product and process development. This role demands collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to execute projects and enhance manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:Engineering & Design:
  • Support ongoing development and enhancement of manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct engineering assessments on various equipment and systems.
  • Develop and introduce new products and processes, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
  • Design and develop tools, fixtures, and gauges for manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with OEM vendors and contractors.
  • Translate inputs into clear instructions, specifications, and rules.
  • Produce detailed specifications for the design, development, manufacture, and installation of mechanical components or systems.
  • Develop innovative strategies and concepts to address complex problems, implementing prototypes as needed.
  • Create, interpret, and generate detailed engineering drawings with a strong grasp of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
Product/Process and Technology Transfer:
  • Provide technical support for product transfers between sites.
  • Serve as the interface during technology and product transfers, ensuring seamless transitions and effective knowledge transfer.
  • Generate and manage technology transfer plans and related documentation.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive cost, process, and technical improvements through meticulous project planning and risk analysis.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to meet goals and objectives.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and integrate them into processes.
Customer Support:
  • Engage with customers to address technical queries and requirements, including site visits.
  • Troubleshoot and enhance products and processes based on customer feedback.
  • Interact with customers at all levels, from operators to engineering professionals.
Quality:
  • Identify and resolve corrective and preventative actions to address quality, technical, and manufacturing issues.
Education & Qualifications:
  • Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and heat transfer.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM systems and CNC programming.
  • Experience with quality systems and inspection tools.
  • Familiarity with validation requirements for new equipment and processes.
  • Project management experience and qualifications in product and process transfer are a plus.
