Summary:

The demand for high-quality health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) to support drug development, health technology assessment/access decisions, product differentiation, and clinical decision-making continues to increase. The Lilly Value, Evidence, and Outcomes (VEO) team aims to accelerate equitable patient access and transform healthcare delivery through the execution and communication of bold, high-impact science. We seek talented, energetic, creative, diverse, influential, and collaborative team members to join the VEO function and Team Lilly.

The purpose of this role is to recruit and manage a new team of VEO Real World Data Analytics (RWA) scientists and other general HEOR scientists with respect to talent identification, performance management, and support for individual development & career path progression. In addition, the VEO Associate Director is responsible for delivering the project plan for all work designated to be executed at the Cork, Ireland site. This will include supporting multiple therapeutic areas and geographies and working with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to deliver RWA studies, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) related deliverables (including early phase economic models, cost-effectiveness analyses, pre and post-launch RWE deliverables), and evidence synthesis deliverables (e.g. Systematic Literature Review (SLR), Targeted Literature Review (TLR), Network Meta-analysis, HTA dossiers), and external VEO-related scientific publications.

Responsibilities:

People Related (25 to 50%)

  • Ensure all direct reports have a performance management and actionable development plan in place.
  • Conduct PM reviews/check-ins to evaluate performance (including timelines and quality objectives), business results, and impact.
  • Lead merit increase and promotion discussions for their direct reports.
  • Appropriately supervise the workload of direct reports, monitor project timelines quality and communicate priorities to direct reports and business partners.
  • Provide input on employee development, talent assessment, and succession planning activities.
  • Encourage appropriate rewards for deserving individual/group performance and results.
  • Engage in activities supporting team building and diversity.

Business Related (50 to 75%)

  • Act as VEO site head at Cork
  • Develop close communication and partnership with VEO corporate stakeholders and LCCI colleagues.
  • Perform appropriate staffing activities and support the training and integration of staff; ensure the 'right person' is working on the 'right deliverable'.
  • Take an active role and work with the VEO Cork team and business partners in capacity planning and business planning. Take ownership of the implementation/execution of the plans and priorities.
  • Prioritize work, assign resources as necessary, and escalate issues to teams and management as appropriate.
  • Communicate with business partners on the progress of deliverables and risk mitigation strategies developed and implemented.
  • Ensure applicable Lilly procedures are followed to ensure the quality and accuracy of deliverables.
  • Maintain and enhance therapeutic area knowledge for assigned projects, including disease state and compound.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with at least five years experience in health outcomes research and/or drug development.
  • At least two years of managerial experience is required.
  • A demonstrated mastery of written English with experience in medical, scientific or technical writing fields; professional verbal skills in English.
  • Publication experience.
  • Demonstrated abilities in verbal reasoning, attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated project management and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be flexible in varying environments and with multiple customer groups.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  •  MD or PhD with five years of management experience
  • Ability to work well across cultures and time zones.
  • Demonstrated people management skills.
  • Domestic and international travel, up to approximately 10%.
  • Therapeutic area, medical and scientific specific knowledge and experience (e.g., neuroscience, immunology, oncology, or endocrine expertise).
