We are looking for an experienced and technical Web Engineering Team Lead. In this role, you will lead the continued development and enhancement of the Staycity and Wilde websites, ensuring seamless integration with Oracle Opera, online check-in systems, keyless entry, and other digital customer journeys. These websites process roughly €50M of sales per year. You will spend roughly 50% of your time on hands-on development and 50% managing outsourced developers, defining strategic direction, and implementing robust, scalable, and maintainable web solutions.

You will be the principal technical lead for the project with a view of growing the team and architecture going forward as Staycity keeps growing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the strategic and technical direction for web engineering initiatives.
  • Lead the development of new features, scope them, and define the correct implementation flows and processes.
  • Ensure robust integration of key systems, including Oracle Opera, Stripe, SendGrid, Twilio, and Umbraco CMS.
  • Maintain and enhance systems such as CDN networks, domain management, DNS, certificates, Google Tag Manager, analytics tools and more.
  • Oversee OWS/OHIP integrations, availability APIs, and the overall performance of booking and check-in applications.
  • Design an architecture that facilitates easy and accurate monitoring of performance.
  • Focus on maintaining a robust monitoring framework to pre-emptively identify and resolve

  • Coordinate outsourced development teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Establish development methodologies to maximize team output and ensure high code quality.
  • Play a pivotal role in transitioning from third-party suppliers to an insourced development model.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Min. 7 years in full-stack web development with demonstrated leadership of complex web projects.
  • Proven track record in managing direct reports and outsourced teams.
  • Demonstrated experience owning the delivery of medium to large projects, such as acting in a CTO capacity within a startup environment.
  • Hands-on experience in production systems using modern Microsoft technologies, ReactJS, Azure, SQL, CosmosDB, and related tools.
  • Strong architectural expertise in distributed Azure environments.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms like Umbraco and their integration with front-end applications is desired.
  • Experience with API integrations involving Oracle Opera OWS/OHIP, Stripe payment gateway, SendGrid, and Twilio is desired but not essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SEO, accessibility, and performance optimization.
  • Expertise in API design and SQL database design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and manage complex systems.
  • Experience in dynamic, fast-paced environments such as startups or high-performance consultancies.
  • Pragmatic problem-solving abilities with a focus on sustainable, long-term solutions
