As a Senior Compliance Engineer - Product Safety, you will oversee projects, provide technical support to customers, and work in a state-of-the-art test facility.

As a Senior Compliance Engineer - Product Safety, a typical day might include the following:

  1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of product safety regulations, requirements, and solutions.
  2. Establish and support an in-depth understanding of evaluation methods and reports to ensure compliance to market safety requirements.
  3. Mentor engineering, manufacturing, and sales staff on product safety compliance principles and requirements.
  4. Consult with development teams on design, evaluation, and mitigation practices to ensure compliance to market safety requirements.
  5. Monitor and predict safety trends and guide standards development and regulatory changes affecting evaluations, certificates, markets, and products.
  6. Identify, establish, and manage projects to address company-level compliance improvement opportunities.

This job might be for you if:

  1. B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience with national and international product safety standards (UL, CSA, IEC, CE, NOM).
  3. 12+ years working knowledge of product safety engineering practices and philosophies at an electronics development and manufacturing company.
  4. Excellent working knowledge of common compliance safety test equipment and practices.
  5. Self-motivated/self-starter.
  6. Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  7. Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  8. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. In-depth knowledge of one or more of the following product safety standards/programs:
  2. IEC/EN 60255-27
  3. UL/IEC/EN 61010-x
  4. UL 508/508A
  5. IEC/EN 60947-x
  6. UL/IEC/EN 62368-x
  7. IEC/EN 60079-x (ATEX)
  8. UL 121201.x (HazLoc)
  9. UL Data Acceptance Program (DAP)
  10. IEC Customer Test Facility (CTF)

Leadership and training experience

Physical Requirements:

  1. Sit and/or stand at least eight hours.
  2. Lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 40 pounds infrequently.
  3. Vision correctable to 20/30 or better.
  4. Use computer keyboard devices.
  5. Differentiation of color.
  6. Bend.
  7. Reach.
