The Platform Product Manager, Microservices at Primark will be accountable for defining and delivering the enterprise microservices platform strategy, focusing on building scalable, secure, and high-performing API Based Microservices. Working closely with our Technology Partner organisations ensuring that the Microservices Platform supports advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning initiatives.

Additionally, they will oversee the design of API Based Microservices solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and collaborating closely with Product Management, Architecture, and Integration teams to drive business transformation.

What You'll Do as a Platform Product Manager
In your role, you'll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here's a flavour of your day-to-day:
  1. Operational reliability: Collaborate with reliability engineering partner to resolve issues and optimise performance. Define and monitor SLAs for uptime, performance, and reliability.
  2. Build & Delivery Microservices Platform Strategy: Own the creation and implementation of the organization's enterprise Microservices Platform strategy, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  3. Product Management: Own and manage the product backlog. Drive initiatives to improve ease of use for platform consumers. Ensure integration with third-party tools and systems is seamless.
  4. Audit readiness: Prepare for internal and external audits by maintaining detailed records and implementing robust processes.
  5. Disaster Recovery: Strategy for a Microservices recovery ensuring rapid recovery from disruptions by meeting RTO/RPO targets, implementing backups and failover mechanisms, regularly testing recovery processes, and aligning with compliance and SLA requirements.
  6. Software currency: Ensure that systems remain secure, efficient, and supported by keeping software versions up to date, addressing obsolescence risks, and aligning vendor compliance standards.
  7. Ensure Security and Compliance: Develop and enforce data security, privacy, and compliance protocols to safeguard sensitive information across enterprise functions. Stay up to date with industry best practices, ensuring data platform adherence (e.g., GDPR).
  8. Technology Platform: Evaluate, implement, and manage modern technology platforms that align with the organization's data needs. Ensure the integration of best-fit platforms like Azure, and other cloud technologies to enable scalable, efficient and reusable API Based Microservices.
  9. Leadership of Partner Delivered Microservices Engineering Team: Lead, mentor, and guide a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence. Set clear goals, encourage best practices, and ensure alignment with business needs.
What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years' experience as a Microservices Platform Product Manager
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages (such as Java)
  • Experience with API and Event-driven systems
  • Experience with Azure Cloud technology stack
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
  • Proven track record in leading transformational/change management initiatives
