Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Protection and Data Governance Specialist to join our insurance company. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and data governance frameworks, specifically within the insurance sector and with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of data protection laws, be adept at conducting privacy and ethics impact assessments, and manage new data and AI use cases to ensure comprehensive oversight.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and Data Governance Specialist to ensure alignment on data protection and data governance strategies.
  2. Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act and other applicable data protection laws.
  3. Conduct privacy and ethics impact assessments for existing processes in light of the dynamic environment and for new data and AI use cases or business processes.
  4. In consultation with key stakeholders, develop/enhance, implement and maintain new and existing governance frameworks and guidelines to ensure the integrity, security and appropriate use of data and AI and to ensure organisational compliance.
  5. Provide guidance and support in the management of new use cases, ensuring they adhere to the Allianz data protection and data governance standards.
  6. In close collaboration with the business areas, identify and mitigate risks related to data protection and data governance through proactive measures and continuous monitoring.
  7. Assess data breaches and notify them to the Data Protection Officer.
  8. Provide support to the Data Protection Officer in maintaining comprehensive records of all data processing activities conducted by Allianz in line with the GDPR provisions.
  9. Assist the Data Protection Officer in maintaining a Privacy and Ethics by Design culture.
  10. Review third party relationships including due diligence to ensure compliance with best practice and relevant data protection and AI legislation and regulation.
  11. Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure Allianz remains compliant and ahead of potential challenges.
  12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed data protection and data governance best practices in projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CDPSE) is a plus.

Essential Experience:

  1. Three years proven experience in data protection, privacy law, or a related field, preferably within an insurance environment.
  2. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  3. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act and GDPR.
  4. Experience conducting privacy and ethics impact assessments.
  5. Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  7. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of data integrity and protection.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience in a multinational organisation.
  2. Knowledge of emerging technologies and their impact on data protection and governance.
  3. Project management experience.

Regulatory Notice
Appointment to this role will be subject to the requirements provided for by the Central Bank of Ireland. This role is Pre-Approval Control Function CF-2 and is subject to F&P Standards and the Corporate Governance Requirements. This includes the requirements provided for by the Central Bank (Individual Accountability Framework) Act 2023. The successful candidate will be provided with the relevant Conduct Standards (including Additional Conduct Standards) training, where required together with a Statement of Responsibility which will detail the Inherent, Prescribed and Other responsibilities assigned to this role, where relevant.
