Position Overview

As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting a large client for our professional services team. You will primarily help maintain, support, and build our Windows systems. We are looking for an individual who is skilled in Windows operating systems, passionate about what they do, organized, detail-oriented, and a team player

Location: This role will be remote from Cork, Ireland

Reports to: Engineering Manager, SRE

Travel Requirement: None

What You’ll Be Working On

  1. Environment/Infrastructure
    • Evaluate environment and implement standards according to best practices
  2. Operations
    • Build and deploy Windows Server images in AWS, Azure, and VMWare environments
    • Performance tuning and general maintenance of Windows Servers
    • Perform direct/query-based deployment of patches, Microsoft updates, device drivers, and applications to servers on the network using approved automation tools and producing success/failure reports for the deployment
    • Manage and maintain a global environment of ~5,000 endpoints, with over 15 supporting infrastructure site servers
    • Create documentation on system designs, procedures, processes, and changes
    • Work with vendors and application owners as needed to resolve issues
    • Communicate day-to-day activities, operational challenges, or general feedback to management through defined reports and regular meetings
    • Responsible for special projects related to assignments, customer needs, or service management requirements
    • Periodic participation in an after-hours on-call rotation supporting production environments 24x7
    • Ability to learn and adapt SRE practices and actively promote a DevOps culture

What You Bring To The Role

  • 3+ years of experience building, managing, and maintaining Windows Server operating systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with managing Microsoft Active Directory (AD).
  • Experience deploying customized applications and security patches utilizing Microsoft SCCM with Task Sequences, Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and Group Policies.
  • Automation/scripting experience using PowerShell, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), Bash, or Ansible.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, host firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Must be able to work in a matrixed organization.
  • Must be able to articulate technologies and solutions to all levels of customer and contract personnel.
  • Periodic travel to Dallas (TX), Orlando, or Fort Lauderdale (FL) may be required for this role.
